Loft Reveal

Whew.... you guys!

I finished the biggest reno to date, the 3rd story loft. I know I say this every time lol, but this makeover required me to basically renovate two rooms at the same time.

I partnered with The Home Depot to finally finish this space, and couldn't be happier.

There were so many moving parts, and so many details that it honestly felt never-ending. I mean, if you don't question your decision at least a couple times during the renovation process, did you even do it correctly!?

Prior to moving in, this space was one of the main reasons that I fell in love with Hattie (my house). The previous owner used this space as a separate rental, equipped with multiple closets, full bathroom and a kitchen. So, the minute I saw the loft, I knew that the house was a keeper.

The goal was to truly honor this room, and make it even better than before, utilizing it as efficiently as possible.

There's so much to cover, so hang in there with me... we have a lot to talk about.

Starting with the main area, I wanted to

go with a vintage look for all the fixtures, especially lighting.

I grabbed two aged brass wall sconces from The Home Depot and it gave the perfect, but yet subtle, touch to the room.

This specific wall space will soon house a television, that I cannot wait to frame to match the vintage brass sconces.

I also decided to add a 6 tier pipe shelving unit, to house light decor. Since the kitchen has the majority of the pipe shelving, and industrial feel, I wanted to bring some of that into the living area as well. This not only ties the two spaces together, but it gives the main area the loft vibe that I was going for with this entire floor.

The major benefit that I loved about using the Home Depot pipe systems is everything you need is in the purchased kit to create your custom shelf. If you've been with me for a while you remember I made a pipe system from scratch for my bookshelf in the plant room, using the individual pieces. With the pipe kits from Home Depot, there was no need to worry about which piece goes with what, and accidentally grabbing the wrong one(which I did more times than I can count on the plant room shelf). Let's just say, I won't be doing another one from scratch anytime soon. There were way too many fittings, and pipes to keep up with, and the project was extremely tedious. This time I wanted to work smarter, not harder, and purchase a shelving system where someone else did the thinking for me.

Also this 6- tier pipe shelf has distressed wood shelving, so it blends perfectly with the French Oak Montague floor, and faux wood beams in the kitchen.

This is the perfect setup for my first type DIY'ers out there is, it required no power tools, and was easy to set up. It took me less than 20mins to assemble, from start to finish. Super sturdy, each tier can hold up to 25 lbs, more than enough for just about anything you would want to display.

Flooring

Now let's get down to the nitty gritty about these floors from Home Depot, shall we!? Not going to lie, making the decision on not only what I wanted the floors to look like, but also what kind of flooring, was kind of stressful. There are so many options to pick from today, you really have to do your research and pick the best material for the space you are working with. One day I'll go a little more in depth about flooring, the pro's and con's of different type, but today we will keep it light.

The loft was the only area of the home that had carpet, and let me tell you, it needed to go long before I purchased the house. It was old, worn out and dirty.... and the first thing I did

when finally moving in, was remove it up.... ASAP!

It sat in that state for quite a while, because flooring is definitely something you don't want to rush. So, when the day finally came to upgrade, that's when I knew this reno was actually going to actually happen!

After what seemed like weeks, I settled on luxury vinyl click lock, in French Oak Montague, and it was even more beautiful in person. This was my first time installing flooring while renovating, and wanted to make sure that it was as user friendly as possible. I opted for click lock to guarantee as smooth of transition from one plank to the next. This luxury vinyl also comes with 1mm underlayment, which ensures that your flooring will be comfortable to walk on, and quiet. The best part about this particular flooring is, it's floor score certified. So you can cut these planks down to size by using the score method with your blade, making this the perfect solution for those who don't are just beginning with DIY.

Waterproof, scratch, stain, and slip resistance, it doesn't get any better than this.

Kitchen

Now for the fun part, the kitchen. I remember seeing this space for the first time while viewing the house like it was yesterday. There was actually a tenant at the time staying there, and the tenant had their own private entrance to the loft from the back patio. All I could think about was fact that I would indeed potentially have 2 kitchens in this home. It's not everyday that you get to have two kitchens in your home, and as someone who loves to cook and entertain, this was the perfect setup.

The goal is always to make guest feel as comfortable as possible, and with the extra privacy in the loft, it makes having guest over a lot easier.

Let's talk storage! I absolutely love open shelving when added in a kitchen, and will forever incorporate it into at least one area of my home. It was especially important to add as much functional shelving and storage in this area as possible due to the size of the room.

On the Home Depot websiteI was able to find just about every size, and system imaginable. First up was counter setup. I selected the pipe system , for my butcher block countertops to sit on to give an open storage concept.

Each pipe ending has a flat mount where you can screw and secure your top of choice.

The great thing about this pipe shelf is it's a two tier system, so I was able to add a lower row for extra storage.

For a little razzle dazzle, pipe shelving was also added over the sink to house easy grab and go items like the Elama Luxmatte 20-Piece Dinnerware Set. Since pipe fittings are pretty much

a puzzle that you piece together, no matter where you decided to mount your shelves, they can be easily customized to fit your room.

I also decided to add one of my favorite decor elements in the kitchen, cane web.

I was pleasantly surprised that Home Depot had a number of black and cane web decor to match.

I immediately grabbed the black and cane web arch mirror, because I mean, who does’t love anything arched right now and the matching nesting end tables.

Also, to keep things on brand, I decided to grab the

Delta matte black facet to match the small bar sink. The great thing about this particular model is, the magnetic snap feature keeps the retractable head in place at all time. So when not in use it gives a clean look of one whole faucet, but has the function of a pull down sprayer when you need it.

Lastly, let’s talk lighting. I added recess lights to this area mainly due to there being no windows, or natural light in the kitchen. Paired with the fact that the walls are dark and moody, choosing the right kind of lighting was key. So I have bright light as my main source, but made sure to sneak some matte black

sconces with ambient lighting just set the mood. This is my favorite type of lighting to use throughout my home, it completely sets the vibe and tone of the area. I’ll mainly use these sconces as somewhat of a night light to keep the kitchen lit while upstairs watching movies.

Loft Patio

One of the best little amenities in the loft is the balcony that overlooks the backyard. During this time of year when all the trees are in their full green bloom, it makes me feel like I have my own little getaway.

One thing about Georgia is, we get all 4 seasons, and that can be really tough on your outdoor furniture. That's why it's important to make sure you do your research to get the right material that can withstand the elements.

I saw the 3piece coco breeze wicker set and loved the large oversize captain chairs. Most outdoor seating isn't necessarily set up for comfort. So, not did these check off the comfort factor on the list, they also look amazing too!

The weather resistant wicker will hold up to every season, and the fabric is fade resistant.

If you are looking for a small, but mighty setup for your outdoor porch, or balcony, I would highly recommend these.

Guest Room

I also had to make sure to show the downstairs guest room some love, by adding a few additional pieces.

If you followed along in the stores, the Savannah ceiling fan that I had been eyeing for months finally came back in stock. So of course I grabbed it the minute I could, and it completely upgraded the room. I like to remind people when decorating, that the simple items like lighting and paint can truly transform a room.

I didn’t want to leave out the downstairs guest room either, so I decided to upgrade my bedding and switch over to a lighter comforter for the warmer months. I came across the Company Store down alternative duvet. After the first night I could tell the difference between the heaviness of my previous duvet, and this one. I also appreciated how due to the lightweight nature of the insert, putting it inside my duvet cover didn’t cause bunching. Additionally, The Company Store duvet is a sustainable alternative, so not only is it cruelty free, but it's made from recycled polyester.

The last little upgrade in the guest room was an area rug, and the room had been without one for quite a while. I wanted to really get something that would meshed well with the existing decor. One thing I will say about when I decorate my home is, I don't rush the process. I wait until something speaks to me before making a move, and in this case I'm so glad I did. I found the absolute perfect rug, that just so happen to match with the design that I painted in the guest nook.

I mean come on... does it get any better than this!? I found this rug from Balta after hours of searching on the Home Depot website.

Such a satisfying feeling when I was finally able to put it in the room. It couldn't be anymore perfect.

There were so many amazing moments with this reno / reveal, and I'm looking forward to forever adding in these room. You guys know, I'm forever changing, and exploring when it comes to my decor, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of other additions in the future.

As per usual, I'm forever grateful that my tribe has supporting and cheered me on through everyone of my home adventures.
